Happy Thanksgiving! Ok- it is not until Thursday but I have already started planning my menu-along with my American brothers and sisters back home in the US. Most Brits seem perplexed about this beloved American holiday. But then again, American’s are confused about British bank holidays-why so many? The name sounds kind of generic. Are there sales associated with it? And so on. As a Yank, Thanksgiving is important to me for a variety of reasons. Growing up, young Yanks start learning about this holiday pretty much on the first day of school as we traced outlines of our tiny hands, cut it out, coloured it and called it: ‘our first turkey.’ Truth. For the sake of brevity, Thanksgiving is all about giving thanks and being surrounded by your family. But of course there are 2 sides to every story.
