Bonfire Night, also known as ‘Guy Fawkes Day’ falls every year on 5 November. Technically, I really should have posted this yesterday on THE actual day, but to be honest, it took me a full 24 hours to get my head around this wacky holiday. For real. The origins lies in the failed conspiracy (and lets face it, no one likes a conspiracy) of some English Catholics who wanted to replace the Protestant King James I of England with a Catholic head of state. The Gunpowder plot as it was named, came into being when Guy Fawkes, a member of the Gunpowder Plot was arrested guarding explosives that he and his group had placed beneath the House of Lords.
