Meet Angela Gibbins

Hello and hi. Pictured above is Angela Gibbins. And RIGHT now, our Angela is in a heap of trouble. She is going to be in a world of hurt. She is going to wish that she never got out of bed…or that she did not have that 5th Corona before she decided to be a wordsmith. I think you get the point. So, who is Angela Gibbins and what exactly did she do that was so BAD? Allow me to educate you on this. You are welcome.

Angela Gibbins is a senior manager at the British Council. She is being investigated after calling/branding Prince George a ” F***ing Di**head on Facebook. Yikes Angela. Opinion much? He is a child. Leave. Him. The. Eff. Alone.  Gibbins, 52, made the comments under a photo posted on the social media site. She wrote:

“White privilege. That cheeky grin is the (already locked-in) innate knowledge he’s royal, rich, advantaged and will never know ANY difficulties or hardships in life.” Oh and there was more…“Let’s find photos of 3yo Syrian refugee children and see if they look alike, eh? In responded to the criticism that followed her remarks, she added:

“I’m sound in my socialist, atheist and republican opinions…“I don’t believe the royal family have any place in a modern democracy, least of all when they live on public money.“That’s privilege and it needs to end.”

Here is the picture that Gibbins was referring to:

Wow. Just wow. I mean, freedom of speech is great and everything but sometimes you should probably use your inside voice. I use my inside voice A LOT. And let me tell you, it has served me well. I go home every day, largely unscathed. No fighting. No cross words. No ‘handbags at dawn’ as the British say (it refers to women hitting each other with their handbags during a cat fight) Instead, I  usually have a forced, yet, genteel smile as I look down at my brogues and wonder why they are so scuffed. For real, sometimes you need to NOT speak.

Gibbins, Head of Global Estates at The British Council ( a tax-payer funded charity that promotes the UK and the English language in more than 100 country) reportedly earns around 80K a year. That is a long of money-hopefully, she can make that much money in her NEXT job. Gibbins later added that her comments of “royal, rich and advantaged” and her reference to “white priviledge” were not representative of the organisation views. Further, a spokeswoman added “This comment was made on a private social media account”…which is NOW public.  Along with ” It has absolutely no connection to the British Council and does not represent the views of the British Council…that said, we expect the highest standards of our staff and we will be investigating the matter further.”

If Gibbins wants to air her views, maybe she should blog about them. I mean, I talk a lot of trash/smack about our Kate-but let’s face it, it is done in good fun. I am not mean and horrible about her. Or at least, I don’t think I am being mean and horrible. Am I? Ahh…please don’t answer that-just use your inside voice instead. Perhaps Gibbins should have used her inside voice when she made those comments about our Prince George. Just sayin.’ That is all.

I try to always use my inside voice. (The medication really helps.)

Couldn’t have said it better…that ‘fifth Corona’ concept mirrors my own best guess. For a middle-aged bureaucrat so confident in her -isms (social-, athe-, republican-), she conveniently overlooks the fact that any child of a dynast, despot or high elected official on this predominately non-white planet would enjoy the same fortunate accident of birth as George. Likewise, the poorest child in any nation not locked in civil strife would likely fare better than her ‘3 y/o Syrian’. How sad for Ms. Gibbins that the USSR no longer exists, as she’d feel far more at home in THEIR ministry of propaganda. BTW, plan to borrow your ‘handbags at dawn’ reference – with attributions, of course:) Sharon

Yes, yes and yes Sharon. Preach. AG was totally drunk when she left that post on Facebook for her friends…and the world to see. Thanks for the read! 😉
