Pre-Christmas Lunch With the Queen

The descendants of two of George V's sons were out in force yesterday with four generations of Windsor gathering at Buckingham Palace

Yesterday, members of the Royal Family arrived for the Queen’s annual Christmas lunch yesterday at Buckingham Palace. I was not invited of course, but I was there in spirit. Yup. You may only know, William, Kate, Harry and of course Prince George but there are more Windsor’s out there. Consider this Windsor 101. You are welcome.

Of course Prince George of Cambridge was there with his Uncle Prince Harry. Harry still has not shaved his beard. Sigh. Prince George is SO cute. I mean.

As ever, two-year-old Prince George of Cambridge (left) stole the show when he arrived at the palace for his great grandmother the Queen's annual pre-Christmas lunch yesterday afternoon, with his Uncle Harry in the front

Also there was Estella and Eloise Taylor, they are 43rd and 44th in line to the throne. The girls are the daughters of Lady Helen Taylor, 51-the only daughter of The Duke and Duchess of Kent. Here they are with their mum, Lady Helen Taylor. Boy, don’t they look happy. What is wrong with these people? I mean.

Next in attendance was Mia Grace Tindall. She is the child of Zara Philips and Mike Tindall. Zara is the daughter of Queen Anne. The Queen in Zara’s grandmother. Mia is only 2 years old and she is 17th in line to the throne. Mia does NOT hold a royal or aristocratic title-since Princess Anne decided NOT to pass on her status to her 2 children Zara and Peter Philips, her son. Yeah. Pictured below is Zara, Mike and Mia. Awww..

Zara has become known for her no-nonsense, multitasking mothering style, pictured (left) in July 2015, with Mike and Mia, at the Artemis Great Kindrochit Quadrathlon in Loch Tay Scotland

Next in attendance was Albert, Leopold and Louis Windsor. What the what? Someone named their child ‘Leopold?’ Not judging, just an observation.  The 3 boys are the kids of Lord Nicholas Windsor and his wife, Paola. Lord Nicholas is the youngest child of the Duke and Duchess of Kent, a great-grandson of King George V and first cousin once removed to the Queen. Confused.com? Yeah, me too. Nicholas met his wife Princess Paolo Doimi de Lupis Frankopan Subic Zrinski (she is half-Swedish and half-Croatian). They married in a civil ceremony at a London register office. Afterwards, they married in the VATICAN. OMG. Who get’s married in the Vatican? It was the FIRST time a member of the British Royal Family had married at the Vatican. Of course, he would have been CoE or Church of England-which is NOT Catholic. Lord Nicholas, 43, forfeited his place to the throne when he converted to Catholicism in 2001. Rules are rules after all. Here is a picture of the lovely family. Sort of…this picture only has 2 of their sons in it.

Lord Nicholas, pictured with Albert (left) and Lady Nicholas, pictured with Leopold (right) in 2011. None of the three boys are in line to the throne on account of them all being baptised Catholic - had they been Protestants they would be 37th, 38th and 39th respectively

Next came Maud Windsor. Correction: Maud Elizabeth Daphne Marina Windsor.  Maude’s dad is Prince Freddie-he is the only son of the Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. Here is Maude with her parents.

Maud (centre) was baptised at the Chapel Royal, St James's Palace, wearing the Royal Family's Honiton lace robe, pictured with her mother (right) and father Freddie Windsor (left), who is a financial analyst

Next to arrive was Isla Philips. Isla Elizabeth Phillips, 3 is another of the Queen’s great grandchildren, and the youngest daughter of Autumn Phillps (CANADIAN-YEAH) and Peter Phillips. Peter is the son of Anne, Princess Royal and her first husband Captain Mark Phillips. They seem like a ‘normal’ family.

Prince George was there too. He is 3rd in line to the throne and son of William and Kate. He is hell-a cute. He arrived clutching a book-‘Curious George.’ The kid is just way too cute for me to handle.

Last but not least….Lady Amelia Windsor was there too. She is the 20 year old granddaughter of the Queen’s cousin, Prince Edward, Duke of Kent. She is 36th in line to the throne and NOT at all happy about it-as you can see from the picture below. You should try smiling honey, it doesn’t hurt. At. All.

After living much of her life hidden from the spotlight, Lady Amelia made her foray into the public when she appeared in Tatler in October 2010

I think she is smiling though-in the above picture. I. think.

So, that’s it. I have introduced you to ‘The Windsors.’ I know this was kind of long, thanks for reading. And remember, ‘it doesn’t cost ANYTHING to smile.’

Cheers

Some of the photos didn’t show, which is just as well. Some of those folks sure aren’t happy with their lot in life!
