Royal Ascot. What is it? Allow me to school you. You are welcome. Ascot Racecourse is an English racecourse. Located in Ascot, Berkshire. It is one of the leading racecourses in the United Kingdom-thoroughbred horses. No donkeys allowed. Shame. Ascot stages 26 days of racing over the course of the year. The course, owned by Ascot Racecourse Ltd, and enjoys close associations with the British Royal Family, being approximately six miles from Windsor Castle. I live close to the Queen but do not enjoy close associations with her or her Royal family. Oh well.
Royal Ascot for the first time in 2013 featured prize-money of £5,000,000. A total increase in the prize-money purse of £500,000 for the meeting represented an 11% increase from 2012. Total prize money at Ascot throughout the 2013 season was just above £10,000,000.
If you like horses and horseracing this is THE place to be. But what it is really well known for is the hats the ladies wear. Totally amazing. Hats off to the ladies. Check out these hats.
